How Hotels Are Helping Guests Celebrate the Holidays

While the consensus is that there's no place like home for the holidays, several hotels have set out to challenge that accord through a slew of seasonal packages and special offerings.
Velas Resorts Delivers One-of-a-Kind Christmas Experience
Christmas trees are commonplace in hotel lobbies around the holidays, but Velas Resorts properties in Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Maya and Riviera Nayarit are taking the festivities to a much more personal level.
This holiday season, guests visiting either resort will be able to order Christmas trees that will be delivered to their suites upon arrival. Guests can select a pre-decorated tree or a plain one to decorate as a family. Rates for trees and ornaments start between $200 and $300 depending on the property.
What's more, guests can even purchase presents to go under the tree via an online gift shop.
Keep in mind that Velas Resorts will match every purchase made via its online store with a donation. Toys will be donated to the Support Center for Children with Cancer, while other gifts will be donated to the Vallarta Women’s Association.
Omni Invites Guests to Give Back
Omni Hotels & Resorts' Stocking Stuffer package will allow guests to contribute to charitable causes over the course of their stay this holiday season.
How it works: Guests receive one token per room night and place that token in the stocking of their choosing. Each stocking represents a different charity, with options including hunger, shelter and children.
The package, which is available for stays between Nov. 23 and Dec. 30, also includes a $10 Omni gift card and a chocolate snowman treat. The package is available at The Omni Grove Park Inn, Omni Mount Washington Resort, Omni Bedford Springs Resort, Omni Rancho Las Palms Resort & Spa and The Omni Homestead Resort, among other properties and rates start at $249 per night.
Experience a Winter Wonderland in France
France's four-star Les Manoirs de Tourgeville hotel is offering a Winter Wonderland package this holiday season that will be available for a limited time (Dec. 22 through Dec. 26).
The $1,340 package includes a double room accommodation, a Christmas Eve gourmet dinner, breakfast (room service or buffet), a surprise children's gift basket, spa treatment for two and access to the hotel's media room, where guests can watch classic holiday movies.
The package runs three nights and is perfect for couples.
NYC's Kimberly Hotel Has Tickets to the Show
There's arguably no better place to celebrate the holidays than the Big Apple. And New York's Kimberly Hotel will offer its annual holiday travel package this season, inviting guests to book a stay and receive a pair of free tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
In a statement, the hotel's General Manager Mujo Perezic described the event as "something that we at the hotel believe should be on everyone's holiday bucket list."
In addition to accommodations and tickets, guests who book the package will receive a welcome amenity and a breakfast buffet for two at the hotel's rooftop lounge.
Irish Castle Returns for the Holidays
Following a decade-long hiatus, Ireland's Dromoland Castle will be open to guests this Christmas and New Year's, announcing a series of holiday packages for the end of the year.
The two-day Deck the Halls Christmas package includes a Christmas Eve dinner, caroling, a visit from Santa Claus as well as breakfast, lunch and a buffet supper Christmas Day.
On top of a one-day Christmas package available to those planning to arrive Christmas Day, Dromoland Castle is offering a Pre and Post Festive Cheer package for one-night guests visiting between Dec. 22 and Dec. 30 (excluding Dec. 24-25). The castle caps off the holidays with a two-night New Year Celebration package, complete with a champagne toast at midnight and a full Irish breakfast New Year's morning.
