How You Can Win a Micronesian Resort for $49

Forty-nine dollars isn't a whole lot these days. But it turns out that it's enough to buy a tropical resort.
At least for one lucky person.
Micronesia's Kosrae Nautilus Resort is looking to crown a new owner this summer.
Owners Doug and Sally aren't bailing on the 21-year-old business, but rather looking forward to the next chapter in Australia.
"We've had our time in the sun and enjoyed a career most people would never even dare dream about, but our current goal now is to become professional grandparents," stated Doug on the contest website. "We feel like a new chapter in our lives is beginning, and we're ready to pass the baton to someone else."
Don't worry, the three-star resort isn't floundering. In fact, it earns stellar reviews on TripAdvisor and gets a 4.8 out of five on Expedia.
How it Works
Tickets to enter the Island Estates contest cost $49 and entrants can purchase as many as they want.
The drawing is scheduled for July 26, 2016, when just one winner will be selected.
If at least 50,000 tickets are sold by the drawing, then the winner will receive the resort. However if fewer than 50,000 tickets are sold, the resort will be unavailable and the winner will instead receive half of whatever amount of money is raised through the ticket sales.
The owners will retain all of the money raised in the event that the resort is awarded to someone.
How to Enter
You'll need at least $49 to have any shot at winning the resort. But if you have more money at your disposal, you can increase your odds by purchasing additional tickets or one of several packages currently being offered.
There are four packages available, ranging from $49 to $349.
The Explorer Pack ($49) includes one ticket and one image from photographer Matt Shepherd, the Couples Pack ($129) includes three tickets and three images, the Hero Pack ($199) includes five tickets and five images and the Executive Pack ($349) includes 10 tickets and 10 images.
What You Win
If 50,000 tickets are sold, the winner will be awarded the complete resort, highlighted by a 16-room hotel, a pool, private beach and dive center.
The winner will also be well-positioned to run the resort, receiving a private home, two one-bedroom apartments, five rental cars, a pair of vans, a pickup truck and a pre-stocked restaurant.
They'll also kick off their ownership with $10,000 in the resort's bank account and a staff of 16 people.
