Marriott Internationals' loyalty program Marriott Rewards has joined forces with South Korea's largest airline to provide members with even more ways to earn and redeem their points.
The Bethesda, Maryland-based hotel company announced Wednesday that it's partnering with Korean Air.
As a result, Marriott Rewards members will now be able to earn Korean Air SKYPASS miles when they stay at more than 4,300 participating Marriott hotels. Members will also be able to convert their Marriott Rewards points into SKYPASS miles for future flights.
Beginning Wednesday, members who select Korean Air as their earning preference can begin earning two SKYPASS miles for every $1 spent on eligible hotel charges at six Marriott brands, including JW Marriott, Autograph Collection Hotels, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Marriott Vacation Club and Delta Hotels by Marriott.
Those same members can earn two SKYPASS miles for every $1 spent on room rate only at the Ritz-Carlton, EDITION and Gaylord Hotels.
Meanwhile, members looking to earn SKYPASS miles will earn just one mile per $1 spent on room rate only at the following Marriott brands: Courtyard by Marriott; AC Hotels by Marriott; SpringHill Suites by Marriott; Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott; Residence Inn by Marriott; TownePlace Suites by Marriott; Marriott Executive Apartments; MoxySM Hotels and Protea Hotels by Marriott.
Members can also convert their existing Marriott Rewards points into SKYPASS miles. Ten-thousand points will earn them 1,500 miles, while 20,000 points will be the equivalent of 3,500 miles. Members with as many as 140,000 points can earn up to 35,000 miles.
"We are committed to giving our members unique experiences, instant rewards, and exclusive access to travel deals that take them further, faster," said Anka Twum-Baah, Vice President, Customer Loyalty & Content, Asia Pacific, in a statement. "By partnering with Korean Air, a leading airline recognized by travelers around the world for its quality service, we can support the travel pursuits of our members – helping them earn more miles with every stay and travel faster to destinations in Asia and beyond."
This latest partnership comes approximately one month after Marriott Rewards extended its partnership with the NBA.
