Michelin-Star Restaurant Opens In Martinique's Simon Hotel

Martinique is celebrated among Caribbean destinations not only for its remarkable natural beauty, but also for its flourishing arts and cultural scene, and its award-winning array of gourmet restaurants and distinctive Creole cuisine. The destination recently added another culinary landmark with the opening this summer of La Table de Marcel at the new 94-room Le Simon Hotel in Fort de France.
In charge of cuisine at the new restaurant is Marcel Ravin, a Martinique native and Michelin-star chef whose experience includes 16 years at the helm of the famed Blue Bay Restaurant at Monaco’s Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort.
The specialty restaurant seats only 24 guests and will offer a dining experience featuring cuisine that combines chef Marcel’s innovative usage of local spices, herbs, and Creole seasonings with traditional French flavors. Patrons at the intimate, 24-seat eatery dine amidst contemporary décor designed to highlight Fort-de-France’s seaside romantic charm.
Overall, La Table de Marcel is designed to provide diners with an enlightening culinary experience and highly attentive service. “Chef Marcel has carried the flag for us in Europe for many years, bringing a taste of Martinique to some of the most exclusive tables in Monaco, Lyon, Brussels, and beyond,” said Muriel Wiltord, director Americas for the Martinique Promotion Bureau.
“With this fabulous homecoming, the world can come to Martinique and experience his masterful dishes in the land that inspired his talent,” Wiltord added. “Exceptional cuisine is everything in Martinique; the focal point at the heart of who we are as a people.”
Located on the picturesque waterfront in Martinique’s historic capital city, the Le Simon Hotel is within walking distance of several of the city’s top attractions, including Fort Saint Louis, the Schoelcher Library, the Aime Césaire Theater Museum and the Saint Louis Cathedral.
