Residence Inn by Marriott wants to help guests run like a local regardless of how far from home they are.
Marriott International's extended-stay brand announced Monday that it has teamed with Under Armour Connected Fitness to provide guests with custom running routes at hundreds of Residence Inn properties around the globe.
Each location will provide a curated running route spanning at least two miles. Guests can access the route through Under Armour's MapMyFitness app.
Although the running routes are certain to be a hit with fitness-oriented travelers, they are designed in a way to appeal to anyone, with many taking runners on a tour of their destination with highlights including top tourist attractions and iconic landmarks.
Guests at the Residence Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan World Trade, for example, will run past new One World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
"Our partnership with Under Armour complements our existing signature amenities and services including free grocery delivery and fully equipped in-suite kitchens," said vice president and global brand manager for Residence Inn Diane Mayer in a statement.
"Wherever their travel brings them, guests of Residence Inn will be able to run, see, and explore everything from charming city routes to scenic landscapes."
Like its recently reimagined guest suites and social hour experience, the new custom running routes are another example of how Residence Inn is embracing the next-gen traveler and working to meet their needs in a creative fashion.
"We continue to evolve and explore opportunities that will enhance the extended stay guest experience," Mayer told TravelPulse earlier this month.
