Riu Palace Las Americas Reopens as Adult-Only Resort

With a feel more akin to a brand-new hotel than a renovated property, Riu Palace Las Americas has reopened on the heels of an extensive $12 million modernization program that has also launched new services. As RIU Hotels & Resorts’ inaugural adults-only property in Cancun and the Mayan Riviera, the resort has been repositioned to reflect the brand’s plan of upgrading its entire inventory to elevate the quality of products bearing its corporate name.

Reserved for those 18 and older, RIU’s adults-only properties are created for those seeking an exclusive atmosphere to share with partners, or to have fun with friends – with all the comfort of a broad range of services, delicious food and beverage options, leisure diversions and specialized services.

Built in 2004 on Playa de Cancun, the 372-room Riu Palace Las Americas has retained such original design elements as crystal lamps, marble paneling, stately columns and wooden ornaments. Merging with these RIU staples, however, are contemporary designs, colors and materials in guest rooms, restaurants and common areas.

Among the new adults-only perks are such exclusive touches as concierge service, welcome glass of sparkling wine and bathrobes. New on the consumables front is the lobby’s Capuchino that serves confections and Lounge 24 bar that presents beverages and snacks each night.

Other property upgrades have enhanced the buffet eatery area and terrace, garden areas and swimming pools. Guests are privy to a Jacuzzi, fitness center, sauna, and the Renova Spa wellness center with a range of treatments and massages.

The resort’s generous all-inclusive plan covers all meals and snacks, premium branded spirits throughout hotel, poolside drink service, regularly restocked minibar and premium liquor dispenser, 24-hour room service, in-room safe, RiuFit group fitness activities, non-motorized sports equipment usage, daily entertainment program, live music/shows/Riu evening program, property-wide WiFi, complimentary entrance to Pacha night club, taxes and gratuities.

Furthering grabbing the spotlight, Riu Palace Las Americas is also among 13 RIU properties that have garnered 2016 Delta Vacations’ Quality Control Award status. Formerly known as the MLT Vacation Awards, the renamed program continues to recognize high service and quality standards catering to overall guest satisfaction. The chain's properties have joined an elite list of 202 total hotels tapped for 2016 designation.

RIU’s roster breaks down with eight properties in Mexico, two in Costa Rica, two in Jamaica and one in Panama. Criteria defined by the tour operator includes that recipients attain 99 percent product performance, 99 percent customer satisfaction and a minimum of 100 bookings annually.

"We’re proud to work with hospitality partners that continuously strive to deliver the very best service and the Delta Vacations’ Difference each and every day," said John Caldwell, president, Delta Vacations. "They prioritize service excellence in their business, and we want to recognize them for the impact that they make with our customers and their vacation experience."

Sergi Ruiz Pique, VP Business Development & Partner Marketing, adds that receiving this award is a great honor for the winning hotels and the entire RIU team. “They work very hard every day to satisfy all our customers during their stay,” said  Pique. “Such recognition spurs us on to work even harder with the aim of maintaining the expectations and trust of our customers".
