Rowdy Airbnb Tenants Close Down Hollywood Hills Listing

One moment you are living in a multimillion-dollar home in a world-famous neighborhood; the next, people are “doing sex” outside of a tent as you drive your kids to school.
An Airbnb listing has been taken down from the site by Airbnb after neighbors complained about some rather disturbing tenants.
The “Hollywood Hills Camping Retreat,” rented out at $40 per night, offered a tent, sweeping views of the Los Angeles area, the use of a bathroom inside an adjacent mansion, and close proximity to the “Hollywood” sign.
Unfortunately for neighbors, however, it also came complete with some rather unruly travelers who had sex in plain sight, smoked above dry grasses and did, well, pretty much anything they darn well wanted.
“People buck naked, people doing sex out in open. Drinking," resident and father Sanjeeb Kumar told NBC4. “Our own backyard, it's scary. Scared to come out.”
“I think it's really hard when a lot of us have children and we are driving by and the kids see strange things and ask, ‘Why is that going on there?’” a fellow neighbor added.
One neighbor was concerned about the risk of a fire spreading, as NBC4 cameras spotted one tenant smoking on the hillside.
“We have a major drought situation, that could up, take the whole hillside and take the houses with it,” the resident said.
Airbnb responded with the following statement, via NBC4:
“The listing is no longer on the site. Airbnb guests expect unique and authentic travel experiences and in turn communities rightfully expect considerate visitors. We have had more than 40 million guests stay with Airbnb. Problems for hosts, guests and neighbors are extremely rare but when they happen, we work fast to make things right.”
Airbnb has built a huge business with its model, but renting out to strangers inevitably can cause some problems here and there.
While the Hollywood Hills Camping Retreat may have been a retreat for tenants, it made local residents want to retreat… from their own neighborhood.
