Fans of tennis and Los Cabos will love combining their two passions with Sheraton Grand Los Cabos, Hacienda del Mar’s exclusive ATP Packages, offered during the inaugural Los Cabos Mexican Open. Replacing the ATP 250 event held in Bogota the past three years, the event was relocated to the Baja destination following its acquisition by Grupo Pegaso.
Set for Aug. 8-13, the prestigious ATP men’s tennis tournament, with $780,000 in prize money, will tap into Mexico’s only Sheraton Grand hotel to serve as its headquarters where participating pro players will stay throughout the event.
Since Los Cabos has solid air links to the United States and Canada, where the U.S. Open Series tournaments are played, players are expected to use Los Cabos as a tune-up event a week after playing the Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati and just before the U.S. Open.
The resort will also accommodate tennis enthusiasts with its six ATP Packages that include deluxe or suite accommodations, full or weekend tournament ticket options and other perks. Seating ranges from Platinum to Silver zones, with all packages covering Wi-Fi access, bell staff gratuities and daily breakfast buffet from $340 USD nightly. Kids six and older must pay a full ticket price to enter the matches. Therefore, they must be considered as an adult when booking the package.
Among those top-ranked players participating in the inaugural Los Cabos Mexican Open with current ATP ranking are Austria’s Dominic Thiem (#15), Australia’s Bernard Tomic (#22), Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic (#31), France’s Jeremy Chardy (#33), USA’s Sam Querrey (#37), Spain’s Fernando Verdasco (#51) and Spain’s Tommy Robredo (#72). A full participant roster will be released in July.
“We are delighted to be the official host hotel for the Los Cabos Mexican Open,” said Renato Mendonca, the resort’s general manager. “The Sheraton Grand Los Cabos, Hacienda del Mar is the ideal spot not only for tennis enthusiasts, but also for these athletes to rest and rejuvenate between their matches. We look forward to welcoming all attendees to this exciting tournament.”
Recently rebranded to Sheraton Grand status, the 26-acre Los Cabos oceanfront retreat is the only Mexico property — and one of only three in South and Central America — that has been selected for the designation.
Ricardo Iriarte, Sheraton Grand Los Cabos’ tour and travel sales manager, noted that each hotel in the collection features individual architecture and design. “There are a select number of hotels that can be named Sheraton Grand, and that is because of the exclusive and exotic destination we are in, the signature bars and restaurants we offer, our first-class spa, the excellence in the service we provide to our guests, and our beautiful architecture.”
As part of the 270-room resort’s rebranding was an extensive multi-million dollar upgrade to public areas, guest accommodations, five pools, six bars, function spaces and fitness facilities.
Sheraton Grand Los Cabos definitely has the relaxation and health angles covered via customized meals targeting nutritional needs at the resort’s Five Diamond Award winning Pitahayas Restaurant and De Cortez Restaurant.
No doubt that players and spectators will both rely on the resort’s Cactus Spa for soothing sports massages to recharge for the next challenge, and to relax with hydrotherapy treatments that include a Vichy shower and cold, warm and hot Jacuzzis. For those who catch a bit too much sun, the After Sun Relief refreshes overexposed or irritated skin via a White Water Lilly and Green Tea extract infused body wrap.
