With arguably the most anticipated movie of the year, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" set to open in theaters around the world later this month, the Sheraton Seattle Hotel has decided to make the beloved sci-fi franchise a part of its annual Gingerbread Village.
The hotel recently unveiled the 23rd iteration of the display, which is free to the public and available for viewing 24-7 in the hotel lobby through Jan. 3, 2016.
Just how impressive and expansive is the tasty village?
According to Hotelsmag.com, "the gingerbread displays use an estimated 500 pounds of dough, 600 pounds of sugar, 180 pounds of egg whites, 160 pounds of rice cereal treats and hundreds of pounds of candy."
In addition to several hundred pounds of treats, it's clear that significant detail and effort went into this year's display.
Of course, no Star Wars Gingerbread Village is complete without an edible Yoda.
Perhaps even more impressive, this year's display features a life-size R2-D2.
Did we mention it lights up too?
The ultimate goal for the annual display is to raise donations for the Northwest chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Over the past two decades the tradition has been successful in raising more than three-quarters of a million dollars for the foundation.
And fortunately for Star Wars fans counting the days until the release of Episode VII, they won't have to wait until Christmas to feast their eyes. The movie will be in theaters everywhere by Dec. 18.
Until then, guests staying at the Sheraton Seattle can let their imaginations run wild at the lobby's "May the Holidays Be With You" display.
