Three Southern California Resorts have announced Valentine’s Day packages. At Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, the Build Your Own Valentine’s Weekend Getaway is valid on weekends in February from a nightly room rate of $775. Included are a Bungalow guestroom, a bottle of Prosecco wine and strawberries, a rose petal turndown, continental breakfast in bed and late check-out. In addition, guests choose from among three activities -- Relax & Re-Kindle, a spa day consisting of a couple’s red pomegranate seasonal body gelato 50-minute treatment, a romantic bath for two, a spa cuisine lunch and a Crystal Cove fitness walk; Play Date, consisting of a round of golf for two on Pelican Hill’s Tom Fazio-designed Ocean North or Ocean South course, complete with forecaddie and golf cart; or Table for Two, consisting of dinner with wine pairings at Andrea, a mini red velvet cake for two, handmade truffles and bottle of red wine in the bungalow or on the private terrace. Additional romantic amenities are available for an extra cost. To book, call 800-820-6800. For general hotel information, visit www.pelicanhill.com.
La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta (Palm Springs area) is offering The Original Romance Experience, valid throughout February. The one-night package pays homage to Frank Capra’s writing of the romantic comedy “It Happened One Night” while he was staying at a casita at the resort. It includes dinner for two at Morgan's in the Desert and one glass of house wine per person, sparkling wine and chocolate-covered strawberries upon arrival, and breakfast the next morning at Twenty6. The package price is $489 per couple. For additional nights, rates start at $295. To book, call 800-598-3828. For general property information, visit www.laquintaresort.com.
