SPG Members Can Now Redeem Starpoints at Design Hotels

Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) members can now redeem their Starpoints at more hotels than before after Starwood's popular loyalty program announced the next stage of its extended partnership with Design Hotels Thursday.

Members are now eligible to earn points at select Design Hotel properties and put them to use for free nights at participating hotels with zero blackout dates.

More than 30 Design Hotel properties have joined SPG since the extended partnership was announced in November 2015 and that figure is expected to double in the next few months.

"Our partnership with SPG offers tremendous advantages on all levels..." said Design Hotels founder and CEO Claus Sendlinger in a statement. "It’s exciting to see these impressive results only three months after our first member hotels went live with SPG."

Upcoming Promotions

Beginning later this month, members can earn an SPG free night award for every three nights they stay at participating Design Hotels.

Also starting March 7, SPG members will be able to use their Starpoints to bid on various SPG Moments, including a private tour of the art collection at New York's Gramercy Park Hotel.

Thursday's redemption announcement — which coincides with the launch of Design Hotels' and SPG's Original Experiences campaign — was accompanied by an exclusive offer for SPG members.

From now until March 30, 2016, members who sign up for an SPG credit card from American Express and spend at least $3,000 in the first three months will receive 35,000 Starpoints, or the equivalent of a pair of free nights at a Category 5 hotel.

Beyond that, card users will have an opportunity to earn double points when they use their card to make purchases at a participating hotel since they'll be earning SPG member points and card member points.

Other card benefits include free Wi-Fi access at select hotels and no foreign transaction fees.
