Velas Resorts is making Mexico a family affair this spring at its “Beyond All-Inclusive, Beyond All Compare” resorts in Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit and Riviera Maya. Yet, that’s not to say the company isn’t catering to couples as well with its adults-only options.
“From an extended family traveling together to a couple looking for a secluded romantic spring retreat, all travelers can find their ideal spot within Velas Resorts,” said Gianpaolo Bellomunno, corporate director of sales & marketing.
“Casa Velas and Grand Velas Riviera Maya’s Grand Class adults-only section are perfect for couples, while families enjoy the activities offered at Velas Vallarta, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit and Grand Velas Riviera Maya’s Ambassador section.”
According to Bellomunno, local authorities in all three resort areas have confirmed that there are no reported cases of the Zika virus. “At the same time, the health and safety of our guests are always a top priority for us at Velas Resorts.” He notes that since the opening of the company’s first property, the company has operated with an aggressive program of mosquito control throughout.
Whether for a spring break vacation or an extended weekend stay, the AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Maya and Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit let you be privy to enhanced entertainment activities for kids, nightly programming for parents and unique family options that bring everyone back together again.
The latter is on the heels of a $20 million renovation that upgraded spa and gourmet restaurants, and added a state-of-the-art facility for teens. “The new teens’ club at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is a particular highlight for spring time travelers,” said Bellomunno.
“Teens from 13-18 years now have a contemporary space to enjoy their own mini vacation with an extensive game room complete with an X-Box Kinect, pool table, air hockey, ping pong, foosball, karaoke set with vintage dance floor and more.”
Teens also stay engaged with special activities like urban dance classes and non-alcoholic mixology classes. Parents escape at night with salsa dancing classes and themed pairing parties that include Fondue & Paella, Martini & Hookah, and Mezcal & Tequila. Families can regroup with everything from drive-in movie night and sushi making to eco-cycling tours and surfing.
Also on the entertainment front, Koi Sports Bar and Dancing Lounge draws in the crowds with its 27-foot dramatic marble bar, state of the art sound and video equipment, and comfortable seating groups. A DJ keeps it lively by spinning the latest hits.
Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit has also added a dozen new Wellness Suites indulging with a personal Spa Concierge, in-suite fitness amenities and in-suite massages.
Bellomunno notes that the company plans to expand the Grand Velas concept to Los Cabos in late 2016. “We are currently in the planning stages of the resort, concentrating on making sure that in every growing step, we keep the quality of the service to our customers,” he said. No doubt that property will shoot for elite Five Diamond status as well.
"This year promises to be a landmark one for us, beginning with the award and ending with the opening of our fifth Velas Resort in Los Cabos in November," said Eduardo Vela, founder and president of Velas Resorts. "All of us at Velas Resorts take special pride in upholding the elite standards set by AAA. We constantly strive to not only meet, but also surpass those standards. It is this level of service that our guests enjoy and have come to expect from us."
Velas Vallarta & Casa Velas
At the family-friendly Velas Vallarta resort and spa on Banderas Bay, the Kids Club rocks it with stone and canvas painting, tennis and Spanish classes, bingo and blackjack, plus ample opportunities to go competitive with ping pong, basketball, soccer, volleyball and beach contests.
Overlooking the bay and lush tropical gardens, each two- and three-bedroom family suite is styled with vacation-enhancing amenities such as a fully-equipped kitchen, spacious dining area, separate living area and stocked mini bar.
The boutique Casa Velas hotel on the Marina Vallarta Golf Course welcomes adults with teens 16 years and older. “Families with teens over 16 years old enjoy intimate dinners with Executive Chef Eliseo Ibarra and nightly hosted activities like casino night, where guests receive fake money for betting which can be used at the boutique if they win,” said Bellomunno.
