Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. continues to flex its muscle in Latin America. The company recently announced the debut of Aloft hotels in Mexico's main commercial seaport of Veracruz, and in Queretaro, one of the country's fastest-growing cities. Starwood's most aggressively expanding brand in Latin America, Aloft, will reinforce its Mexico footprint as the pair joins existing properties in Cancun and Guadalajara.
Set to open toward the end of 2017, Aloft Veracruz will be developed by FibraHotel, a Mexican trust created to invest in a diversified portfolio of business-class hotels. Debuting in Juriquilla in 2018, Aloft Queretaro will be operated by Grupo Presidente as a franchised hotel.

Victor Vazquez, vice president of Latin America Development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., noted that Starwood was thrilled to celebrate the success of the Aloft brand in Latin America during the 2016 HOLA (Hotel Opportunities Latin America) conference held in Miami earlier this month. "Aloft burst onto the scene in the region in 2011, and we are on schedule to more than double our footprint by 2019, making it one of the most successful brands in Starwood's history in the region," Vazquez said.
While each is unique, all Aloft properties share a sense of excitement and fun. Modern style, tech-forward touches and an affordable mid-market price point combine to bolster Aloft's appeal.
"Aloft is one of Starwood's fastest growing brands with more than 100 hotels around the world, and we are thrilled to continue our expansion in Latin America," said Brian McGuinness, senior vice president, Specialty Select Brands for Starwood. "Aloft's distinct lifestyle positioning, modern design, innovative technologies and vibrant social scene make it the most appealing brand for today's connected traveler."
Aloft Veracruz
FibraHotel CEO, Simon Galante, said that Aloft's debut in the Veracruz market strengthens its partnership with Starwood. "Starwood operates many of the industry's most well-respected and innovative hotel brands, and also has a leading operating platform," Galante said. "We are excited to work with them as we continue to grow our portfolio of over 80 hotels in Mexico."
With 165 loft-style guest rooms, Aloft Veracruz will boast a prime Boulevard Adolfo Ruiz Cortines location in the Veracruz-Boca del Rio area. Across from the Veracruz Convention Center, the trendy hotel will provide easy walking access to the Las Americas and Andamar shopping centers.
Tagged as "The Hub of Hip," WXYZbar defines Aloft's tone as a destination where guests meet, mix and mingle with light bites, signature cocktails and music. The stylish cafe Re:fuel by Aloft will offer breakfast and lunch on the go, while recreation will include the Re:charge fitness center, plus outdoor and indoor Splash pools.
Aloft Queretaro
Starwood also announced that it has signed an agreement with Inmobiliaria ARAT SA de CV to open Aloft Queretaro in 2018 as a franchised hotel operated by Grupo Presidente.
The property will be located on the north end of the city in the industrial corridor of Juriquilla. Guests will appreciate the close proximity to the Antea LifeStyle Center, the largest entertainment and shopping mall in Mexico and Latin America.
As with Aloft Veracruz, the Queretaro property will showcase WXYZbar, Re:fuel and Re:charge. Both properties will also offer the revolutionary SPG Keyless entry system allowing guests to use their Smart Phones as a room key.
"We look forward to welcoming our guests to the grand opening of the hotel and to Queretaro, one of the fastest developing cities in Mexico," said Rodrigo Soto, general manager of Inmobiliaria ARAT SA de CV. "We are working with one of the best architecture firms in Mexico to design the hotel, which will allow our guests to feel at home - even when they travel for business - with spacious areas for relaxing, such as the WXYZbar, the patio or the pool."
