Marriott International subsidiary Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has apparently hit a snag with two of its previously planned hotels in Cuba.

In March 2016, Starwood announced plans for historic expansion into Havana, Cuba with three hotels.

The Four Points by Sheraton Havana opened last summer but Inglaterra, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Havana isn't expected to open until December 1, 2017. The hotel was originally slated to begin operating under the Luxury Collection brand in late August 2016.

Starwood also announced last spring that it had inked a Letter of Intent with Habaguanex to convert Havana's Hotel Santa Isabel into a Luxury Collection member but noted at the time that the signing still awaited U.S. Treasury Department approval.

However, CubaTrade.org points out that the company has still yet to provide an update on the delay in signing a management contract for the latter property.

What's more, Starwood's website only mentions two properties in Cuba, leaving out the Hotel Santa Isabel.

"Situated on the Plaza de Armas and overlooking Havana Harbor, the Santa Isabel will offer Starwood guests a conveniently situated respite in the heart of Havana's historic city center, with 27 rooms, including 11 suites," Starwood stated last year.

When the Inglaterra opens this upcoming winter, it will add 83 rooms to the Luxury Collection portfolio.
