Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is expanding its Latin American and Mexico hotel inventory to 94 properties with the launch late last month of the Four Points by Sheraton Cancun Centro. Starwood will open 13 additional hotels in the two regions by 2017, said company officials.
The debut of the 112-room Four Points Cancun Centro follows Starwood’s launch of three Mexican properties in 2014: Aloft Guadalajara, Four Points Queretaro and Four Points Saltillo. In Colombia, Starwood opened Four Points Bogota and Four Points Barranquilla.
Starwood’s 2017 openings in the regions will include two Luxury Collection properties: Solaz, slated for Los Cabos, Mexico; and The Santa Maria, a Panama property that will be Starwood’s first in the country. Starwood will follow up quickly in Panama with the additional launch of the 203-room W Panama located adjacent to Panama City’s Zona Rosa district.
Starwood’s Four Points by Sheraton brand will premiere several hotels in Mexico and Latin America in 2016 and 2017, highlighted by the 128-room Four Points by Sheraton Cusco, located in the heart of the historic city and traditional jumping-off point for excursions to Machu Picchu. The property will be Four Points’ second in Peru.
Starwood will also debut the 120-room Four Points by Sheraton Ciudad del Este in 2016, the company’s third hotel in Paraguay. The 125-room Four Points by Sheraton Puebla will open in Mexico’s fourth-largest city in 2017.
Starwood has also signed a franchise agreement to launch Aloft Hermosillo, a modern upscale property slated to open in 2016. Additional Aloft properties in the Starwood pipeline include Aloft Asuncion in Paraguay and Aloft Montevideo in Uruguay. Both properties are scheduled to open in 2016.
