Starwood Launches 'Sheraton Free Weekends' Promotion

Starwood Hotels & Resorts launched what it is calling its richest branded loyalty program promotion ever on Thursday.
The promotion, Sheraton Free Weekends, allows Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) loyalty program members to earn one free weekend night at any Sheraton property around the world, regardless of hotel category, for every five eligible nights booked with the brand.
SPG members can earn free nights through Sept. 30, 2015, regardless of when they book, but they must register by Sept. 15. Free nights can be redeemed through Dec. 13.
“Sheraton Free Weekends is a bold way to capture the attention of Starwood’s most loyal guests, drive business to our Sheraton hotels around the world and encourage our members to discover exciting new destinations within our vast global portfolio of hotels and resorts,” said Dave Marr, global brand leader of Sheraton Hotels & Resorts and Tribute Portfolio, via a release.
“One of the key missions with our new Sheraton 2020 plan is to turn heads and captivate guests,” added Adam Aron, Starwood interim CEO. “This is the first of many new initiatives and programs for Sheraton that will signal a new momentum within this storied brand.”
Via the promotion, SPG members can earn free nights at more than 435 hotels and 145 resorts throughout the Sheraton collection in 75 countries around the world

Sheraton Free Weekends is part of Sheraton 2020, a 10-point plan that includes a $100 million Sheraton-focused marketing campaign; the launch of a new premier tier, Sheraton Grand; continuous innovation of the Sheraton guest experience; further commitment to service excellence; the implementation of revenue and profit-driving initiatives; and the goal of introducing more than 150 new Sheraton hotels worldwide by 2020.

Note: A “weekend night” is defined as Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the exception of Sheraton hotels in the Middle East, Algeria, Israel and Langkawi, Malaysia, where it is defined as Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
