Swissôtel Chicago Starts Work on $10 Million Renovation
Hotel & Resort | December 04, 2011
The Swissôtel Chicago is beginning work to revitalize its lobby and meeting space. Completion is expected by March 31. In a noticeable change, check-in pods will replace the bulky front desk. Every front desk agent will work from a laptop computer, giving them the flexibility to interact with guests even when away from their pod. The concierge will also be armed with iPads for quick access to information.
Located in the lobby, Amuse will be an eatery offering small plates, cocktails and wine pairings. DJ-style music will play, although there is a private room with cozy seating, televisions, multi-media plug-ins and more.
The classic meeting space will be transformed into a modern design with a simplified palette, featuring monochromatic with pops of red and gold tones. It is designed to go with the hotel’s 38,000-square-foot event center that opened in 2009.
Swissôtel Chicago is a AAA Four Diamond hotel offering 661 newly renovated guestrooms and suites. The all-glass triangular hotel, designed by Harry Weese, is wedged into the confluence of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.
