The Palace Foundation Gives Back

Each year countless families across the world get the heartbreaking news that their child has cancer. While the diagnosis is tough, months and even years of debilitating treatments can sap the reserves of even the strongest families. To help bring a smile to faces of these families,
Palace Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Palace Resorts, has partnered with Fundacio Dr. Sonrisas, a non-profit organization that seeks to exchange children’s pain and suffering with hope, fun and happiness, and the Mexican air carrier Volaris. Together, the Palace Foundation and its partners were able to grant its 150th “dream,” gifting six seriously ill children and their families with their first visit to the ocean and a week’s stay at the AAA Four Diamond Moon Palace Cancun.
“At Palace Resorts, we have an obligation to be a company that is socially responsible and that works hard to make a positive impact on the communities in which we are located. The Palace Foundation has worked tirelessly to further enhance the lives of those less fortunate, and we are honored to partner with Volaris and Dr. Sonrisas to realize the dreams of these terminally ill children who wish to see the ocean and enjoy an unforgettable family vacation,” said Gibran Chapur, Executive Vice President of Palace Resorts. “We look forward to continuing to work alongside our partners, Volaris and Dr. Sonrisas and other organizations, to make the next 150 dreams come true.”
“Volaris is a company in favor of life itself, as we consider it a fundamental human right, and it is because of this that we support programs and projects such as the ones Dr. Sonrisas puts forward,” said Marcela Sánchez, Volaris’ CSR Manager. “At Volaris, we are very proud of reaching this milestone along with Dr. Sonrisas and the Palace Foundation and also of being able to bring benefits to so many people. As a socially responsible company for the past 7 years, we care to make a change in the communities we operate in, a reason why we’ve traveled 1.4 million kilometers making dreams come true.”

In addition to the many surprises these families enjoyed on their Volaris flight to Cancun, they had the chance to enjoy Moon Palace Cancun’s unmatched family-centric amenities and attractions including “The Playroom,” Wired Teen Lounge, multiple pools, nightly entertainment and more.
“It’s an honor to celebrate such a unique achievement in Mexico. Thanks to our valued partners, we have changed the lives of 150 children by giving them the happiness and strength to endure and see the ocean for the very first time,” said Andres Martinez, Founder and President of Dr. Sonrisas. “I would like to express my gratitude to the Palace Foundation and Volaris for helping us fulfill these dreams, and I am confident that events such as these strengthen our partnership – one that I am sure will celebrate more milestones in the near future. Together, we will continuously demonstrate that happiness is the best medicine.”
To date through the Dream Fulfillment program, the partners have worked to realize the dreams of seeing the ocean for the first time for more than 150 children. The Palace Foundation’s Dreams program is one of five action-oriented programs aimed at meeting the needs of the communities in which Palace Resorts has properties. Recently, the Foundation opened an orphanage to improve the lives of children through a full complement of health services, education and recreational activities.
