Just in time for summer travel planning, TripAdvisor's family travel website Family Vacation Critic has revealed the winners of its annual Family Vacation Critic Favorite Hotels Awards, highlighting more than 600 hotels spanning 15 different regions around the globe that meet a strict criteria.

So what does being named a Family Vacation Critic Favorite mean?

In order to earn the coveted title, the hotel must have been vetted and visited by one of the website's hotel experts and have received at least a four-star editorial rating.

What's more, the hotel must have been recommended by at least 75 percent of visiting families who reviewed it and rated it at least four stars.

Here we'll spotlight some of the notable winners in 2016. You can click here to view the complete list of winners.
