Travvy Awards Winners Spotlight: Club Med Bali
Engaging families with a fully active vacation experience is a hallmark of Club Med International and the Club Med Bali is no different. The resort is geared toward families with an extensive selection of clubs for two and three year olds (Petit Club Med); four to 10 year olds (Mini Club Med) and 11 to 17 year olds (Junior’s Club Med). Nor does the resort forget that parents are also part of the family and has such features as an adults only pool (as well as three other pools), the Club Med Spa by MANDARA, a Turkish Hammam, a sauna and fitness center, access to three golf courses, tennis courts and a beach bar to balance out the experience.
“The key to a memorable family vacation is to have all family members enjoy themselves, in whatever they like to do,” said Susie Casillas, Club Med’s director of sales for the West Coast Region. “At all Club Med resorts worldwide, we offer sports, activities and entertainment for the family to enjoy, or on an individual basis; it’s their choice. It’s also important that if the children are busy, this allows time for Mom and Dad to engage in their own activities, be it spa, golf, tennis, or just relaxing with ‘catch-up’ time. A fairly new and popular addition to Club Med Bali is the new Zen Oasis pool area, designed for adults only.”
The resort’s designers went out of their way to integrate traditional Balinese motifs into the decoration and architecture. The overwhelming abundance of tropical gardens, palms and coconut groves also adds to that romantic Balinese essence that calls people to the island from around the world. The Club Med Bali spreads its 393 club rooms, deluxe rooms and suites among five separate buildings located around the resort.
“Like every Club Med resort worldwide, we bring in the local culture for an authentic experience. Particularly at our beautiful Bali resort, the architecture, flora and fauna throughout the resort embraces everything that is indigenous to Bali,” said Casillas. The restaurants serve international cuisine, with a focus on Indonesian fare. Cultural evenings highlight local artists and artisans and Balinese cooking classes pay homage to the local kitchens.
The resort’s Discovery Center offers excursions to further connect guests to the Balinese culture beyond the gates such as elephant safaris, bicycle tours through rice paddies and local towns such as the island’s arts capital, Ubud. Those days that guests decide to stay on the grounds of the resort offer many things to do that combine the traditional (windsurfing and fitness classes) to the exotic (archery and the flying trapeze).
The travel agent readers of TravelPulse were very consistent in awarding Travvys to destinations and businesses that were supportive partners to the distribution network and Club Med certainly fits that bill. “Club Med is 100 percent committed to the agency community and they are an important part of our strategy,” said Casillas. “The success we have seen in the U.S. would not be possible without the commitment made from our travel agency partners.”
Club Med’s nationwide Business Development Manager team works as advisors to agents and a dedicated ClubMedTA.com website further engages the advisors, where marketing materials are easily downloaded and editable for the advisor to input their proprietary contact information, as a call to action for various promotions. All Club Med consumer collateral will always use the tagline, “Call Your Professional Travel Advisor."
“We believe the all-inclusive value, blended with Club Med’s iconic brand for more than 65-years, gives the agents a sense of dependability, reliability and value in an upscale multicultural atmosphere. Whether in Bali, the South of France, Brazil or any other of Club Med’s 65+ worldwide locations, guests can fully explore the local destination and return to the familiar, safe and comfortable environment of Club Med.”
