Travvy Awards Winners Spotlight: The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is known across the world for its luxury properties.

In this sense, it’s praiseworthy enough to be mentioned among the top Ritz-Carlton properties.

But not only is The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel one of the top Ritz-Carlton offerings, but it also won Best Resort U.S. & Canada at the first annual Travvy Awards in January in New York City.

If you are simply looking at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel from the outside, it’s impressive in itself. Located in beautiful Dana Point, Calif., it just so happens to stand on a 150-foot cliff on the California coast overlooking the sweeping Pacific Ocean. It has an expansive grass area situated on the cliff if you want to relax on a lawn chair to check out the beach and surf or walk along one of the many walkways that provide stunning views.

Naturally, many of its rooms and suites, restaurants and gym look out onto the Pacific Ocean.

But, while the property’s location and appearance are certainly big draws, it wouldn’t be named the top resort in the U.S. and Canada at the Travvy Awards if it didn’t deliver once guests stepped inside.

The rooms and suites boast many luxurious features, including 400-count Egyptian cotton linens, high-end bath amenities, marble bathrooms, royal robes, large HD TVs, iPod docking stations and personal patios that look out onto the ocean, coastline or beach below.

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel also sports several restaurants, bars, lounges and cafes on property, including Raya restaurant (Latin-inspired with sustainable seafood and local meats), enoSTEAK (grass-fed organic steak, artisanal cheeses, charcuterie and exquisite wines), 180blu (a lounge featuring hand-crafted cocktails, small delectable plates and sweeping views of Salt Creek Beach below) and the Dana Pool Café, a poolside café that includes specialty cocktails and casual fare (no fancy clothes needed).

For you health and wellness travelers, you’ll be happy to know that the property includes a luxurious spa with a variety of treatments, a fitness center open seven days a week and fitness classes from yoga to pilates.

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel also offers more than 75,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, accommodating large business events and, of course, weddings with a scenic backdrop.

Beyond that, the property features a gift shop, a personal business center, tennis courts, two outdoor swimming pools and two outdoor whirlpools. If you would rather check out the beach, not to worry; Laguna Niguel opens up to two miles of beach.

Of course, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel hasn’t forgotten to include its captivating surroundings into its offerings. The property offers several experiences for guests to dive into, including surfing tours and activities, whale watching, stand-up paddleboarding and exclusive eco-adventures for both kids and adults alike led by expert naturalists. Eco-adventures include a sea hike, a cooking experience involving local ingredients, sand and beach experiences and customizable group and team building activities.

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel doesn’t skimp on anything, from its accommodations to its amenities to its facilities to its cuisine to its experiences. It’s what you’d expect from a model example of North American luxury.
