Trump Hotels Refutes Hipmunk Data, Pleased with Performance

Despite a recent report from online travel company Hipmunk suggesting presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign is hurting business at Trump Hotels, the company says bookings remain strong.
Last month, Hipmunk teamed up with Priceonomics to analyze the campaign's impact on Trump Hotels.
Although Hipmunk noted that its users tend to be younger travelers, it reported the share of bookings at Trump Hotels on Hipmunk as a percentage of total hotel bookings dropped by more than 59 percent in 2016 compared to the same period in 2015.
Nonetheless Trump Hotels disputes those figures.
"We are very pleased with the performance of Trump Hotels, and with the business we receive from our direct brand channels as well as from the larger, significant third party distribution channels with which we partner," the company said in an emailed statement. "The use of percentages that come from minute numbers, such as those cited, are inconsequential and do not provide a complete or accurate representation of performance."
"We encourage all travel planning channels to exercise caution in reporting and interpreting these figures."
Trump Hotels CEO Eric Danziger echoed those sentiments in a statement accompanying the company's announcement of its new lifestyle brand this week.
"This is a great time for Trump Hotels as we target a new and different type of guest with the same Trump standard of quality and excellence," said Danziger, who told HNN that Trump Hotels "is moving incredibly well both domestically and definitely in Europe, Asia and some parts of Latin America."
Looking ahead, the company is close to opening three properties in Washington, D.C., Vancouver and Rio de Janeiro.
Meanwhile, it's soon-to-launch lifestyle brand is scheduled to launch this upcoming fall.
