The holidays are a great time to stay in hotels, for the end of the year is the time when many hotels in all categories rolls out the holiday decorations and specials for seasonal travelers. Whether it’s a weekend in the big city to enjoy some sights and shopping, or a country getaway to escape the stress, there are plenty of hotels around the country offering packages tailor-made for the holiday guest.

Christmas in the Ozarks

The AAA Four-Diamond Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa in Branson, Missouri, offers the best of the region for holiday travelers. From Dec. 10 the hotel celebrates “A Victorian Homecoming” with warm apple cider served in the lobby, as well as caroling, storytelling, and other events. The Silver Dollar City theme park runs “An Old Time Christmas Festival” and the hotel’s views of the lake and mountains make for some memorably cozy moments.

The Ozark Mountain Christmas Package starts at $187 per night for a standard room and is available for stays as short as two nights. The package includes accommodations, a $50 food and beverage credit for use during the stay, a specially selected Christmas ornament, access to the pool, hot tub, and fitness facilities, and two adult passes to Silver Dollar City. The package is subject to availability and is available through Dec. 30.

The Peninsula Chicago is celebrating 15 years in 2016, and they offer a number of great holiday programs, such as the Peninsula Sky Rink, situated on The Terrace and surrounded by Chicago’s iconic skyscrapers, holiday themed afternoon teas and special holiday menus for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Overnight guests can also take advantage of the hotel’s “Keys to the City” program, which is available through the concierge and unlocks VIP experiences to the city’s most iconic attractions that are only available to guests of the hotel, such as tours of Vosges Haut-Chocolat’s “Chocolate Temple,” or an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Michelin three-starred restaurant Grace.
