Come July, there will be a new eco-chic wellness retreat in Barbados, with the opening of the newly redesigned, all-inclusive Waves Hotel and Spa.
As part of the award-winning Elegant Hotels Group, the hotel offers guests a cut above the usual all-inclusive with a unique focus on mind and body wellness, freshly prepared dishes and cultural, artistic and local activities.
The property is ideal for adults looking for a serene getaway, as well as families interested in introducing their children to mindful vacations as the resort is divided into two sections: one side, a calming adult-only spa area, and the other, a high-energy communal oceanfront lounge. Regardless of which side you choose, the hotel's location nestled on a beachside cliff provides a striking backdrop to anyone's vacation.
Accommodation: The 70-room property was designed with simplicity in mind, using natural materials and earth-toned accents. It's the little things that count, and Waves Hotel & Spa has made every effort to ensure that no detail is overlooked. Each room and suite will feature king size beds, air conditioning, 47-inch flat screen TVs, Bluetooth speakers, yoga mats, bathrobes, mini-fridge and bottled water, a laptop safe and more. Oceanfront Junior and Duplex suites also feature a stocked mini-bar making it even easier to relax in the tranquility of one’s room.
Dining: All Elegant Hotel guests can take advantage of the "Taste of Elegance" dine-around program with select sister properties, offering access to more than 15 restaurants and bars, but on-site offerings make it hard to choose. Seascape will offer Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, while lovers of Asian fusion cuisine will delight in freshly made noodle and rice bowls with customized flavors and spices. Kyma will serve as the perfect place to grab a quick bite or cup of coffee and on select evenings plays will play host to wine pairings, rum tastings and culinary workshops.
Fun in the Sun: With its emphasis on clean, healthy living, it's no surprise that the Waves resort is home to a world-class fitness center that will offer indoor and outdoor classes in yoga, Pilates and other holistic pursuits. The resort also will have a variety of motorized water sports and recreational activities sure to please guests of all ages, including but not limited to water skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, boogie boards and more (Instruction will also be available for those who want to learn something new or perfect their skills).
Golfers will be excited to learn that three rounds of golf at the nearby South Coast Golf Club come as part of their all-inclusive stay; each round includes clubs and transfers. What's more, guests of the Waves Hotel & Spa can take advantage of a complimentary spa treatment. The property features two pools, and those looking for a calming getaway will naturally gravitate to the Serenity spa, adult-only pool, where they can relax in a day lounger while taking advantage of Ambassador service and soothing music. The Lounge pool is stunning in its own right as it’s surrounded by waterfalls, and cabanas and daybeds.
