TripAdvisor unveiled the results of its 2017 Hotel Pricing Report Tuesday, revealing the most popular destinations offering travelers the best hotel value this year as well as the best time to visit some of the world's most shopped destinations.
"TripAdvisor hotel shopping data reveals that some destinations offer significant hotel value this year compared to last, including the Caribbean where hotel prices are down 8 percent, making it a perfect time for Americans to book a dream trip there," said TripAdvisor's senior director of communications Brooke Ferencsik in a statement.
Where to Book
Despite being the third-most shopped destination, the Caribbean boasts the fourth-best hotel value in 2017 with an average nightly rate on TripAdvisor coming in at $442. None of the nine other most shopped destinations even cracked the top 10 in hotel value.
Beating out the Caribbean, though, are Turkey, Taiwan and Belize, which offer a year-over-year nightly rate decrease of 14 percent, 12 percent and 9 percent, respectively compared to 2016.

In addition to Taiwan, Southeast Asia is represented by four other destinations among the 10 most popular offering the best hotel value in 2017. Cambodia ($122), Sri Lanka ($180), Vietnam ($118) and Philippines ($146) each boast 2017 average nightly rates on TripAdvisor at or below $180 and between 3 percent and 5 percent lower compared to 2016.
When it comes to the most shopped destinations on TripAdvisor, the U.S. and Spain top the Caribbean, while Brazil and Mexico round out the top five. The U.K., Japan, Italy, Thailand and India also made the cut.
When to Book
While the best average nightly hotel rate for the U.S. was this past January, May, June and September are the best months to stay for travelers seeking the ideal combination of temperature and cost. Average nightly rates during those three months range from $200 to $210.
In Spain, U.S. travelers can find the best combination of weather and price during the months of March, April and November, where average nightly rates on TripAdvisor range between $150 and $161.

The best months to experience the Caribbean this year are August, September and October when average nightly room rates drop to as low as $301.
And while March, April and May are the ideal months to explore Brazil, based on temperature and price, September, October and November are when travelers eyeing warm weather and low rates will want to visit Mexico, according to TripAdvisor's data.
Travelers planning an April getaway should also consider Japan, Italy and Thailand. May and June are also two of the three best months to visit Japan, Thailand and India without jeopardizing weather or savings.
