A Saudi Arabian Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Egypt earlier this week after an American citizen onboard the plane died.

According to Egypt Independent, Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 021 was en route from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to New York City when an Arab-American passenger suddenly became ill. The pilot decided to call for an emergency landing at Cairo International Airport in Egypt.

When the pilot called Cairo Air Traffic Control to request the emergency landing, he also requested that a doctor be present to help the ailing passenger upon landing. Unfortunately, the 67-year-old man had died by the time the doctor was able to reach him at the Cairo airport.

The body of the man was removed from the plane and transported to Heliopolis Hospital in Cairo. The flight resumed to New York City a short time later.

No details have been revealed about the possible ailments the passenger who died was suffering before the flight or what doctors named as the actual cause of death.
