Green-card holders, beware, say several immigration attorneys in an article for the Huffington Post who are being flooded with calls from clients wondering if its safe to do normal things like travel abroad for spring break or go home to visit family.
"Immigration attorneys and advocacy groups said they were being inundated with questions from people legally in the U.S. wondering whether it would be safe for them to travel. Some want to leave the country to attend a parent's funeral. Students hoped to travel home for spring break. Couples have plans for a vacation together. All of them, lawyers are advising, should stay put," writes Elise Foley.
Executive orders restricting immigration and the flow of refugees leave the new administrations border policies in flux and, with U.S.-Mexico relations on the rocks, these are uncertain times for immigrants to hit the road.
"I don't want to make people scared for no reason, but I think caution is best right now until we see what that exact language will be," Nermeen Arastu, clinical law professor at CUNY School of Law told the Huffington Post. "If you're a not U.S. citizen, don't leave right now."

Many other attorneys agree with this cautious approach.
"We definitely need people to take caution at this point," Hassan Shibly, executive director of Council on American-Islamic Relations' Florida chapter, tells the Huffington Post. "With Trump, you cannot take any risks. You cannot take any principle of liberty or justice for granted. We cannot let our guard down."
