On Thursday, the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Anthem of the Seas was forced to return to New Jersey when an eight-year-old boy had an accident in a pool and required additional medical assistance.
According to ABCNews.com, the child was found in a swimming pool Thursday afternoon and was treated by the ship's medical team, but they required further assistance from an actual medical facility.
The United States Coast Guard was notified of the incident at around 7 p.m. local time, and the Fire Department of New York was also on hand when the ship returned to the port in Bayonne, New Jersey, where it had departed from earlier in the day.
The young boy was medevaced to Staten Island University Hospital North, but the Coast Guard did not know the child's condition. As for the Anthem of the Seas, the ship set sail once again Friday morning for its nine-day cruise to Bermuda and the Caribbean.
