A 10-year-old child and three other people were killed on Saturday, when a bus traveling from Rock Hill, SC, to Fayetteville, NC, crashed into an overpass, officials told ABC News

The bus driver was also among the dead, ABC News reported. An earlier article by ABC said more than 40 people were injured when the bus, which was carrying a South Carolina junior college football team to a game, wrecked in North Carolina.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Lt. Jeff Gordon told ABC that the front left tire blew out at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, causing the bus to run into a guardrail and scrape the side of a concrete bridge column.

The football team from Ramah Juco Academy, which includes some students from Clinton College, were traveling to a game against the University of God's Chosen, Gordon told ABC News. There were 46 people aboard the bus.

The injured passengers were taken to four area hospitals: Sand Hill Regional Medical Center, First Health-Richmond, First Health-Moore and Scotland Memorial Hospital, Gordon told ABC.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the bus tires, agency spokesman Christopher O'Neil told ABC.
