Do You Want to Own a Levitating Pyramid-Shaped Uber Yacht? Us, Too!
The world of luxury yachts has always featured some of the wildest designs imaginable, and an English architect is taking it to the next level with his Tetrahedron Super Yacht plan.
According to the official website of architect Jonathan Schwinge, the pyramid-shaped vessel would consist of four faces and six leading edges, all designed around a single vertical strut on a submerged torpedo hull.
One of the main goals for the design is stability. At rest or at low speed, the vessel will stay close to the water with the torpedo hull drawn close. On the other hand, the Tetrahedron Super Yacht would rise out of the water as speed increases, allowing the torpedo hull and side-mounted adjustable hydrofoils to keep the vessel steady even rough waters.
The vessel being out of the water theoretically would help alleviate the rocking and heeling that can cause seasickness in passengers, but there are still many questions to be answered about the super yacht.
Schwinge released a statement (via FoxNews.com), saying, “The design is instigated by the rethinking of the form, superstructure and propulsion of the modern super yacht into a radically simple enclosure and an elevated mode of travel above the water line.”
FoxNews.com also shared images of the proposed super yacht on Twitter:
While the futuristic design looks like a UFO, the Tetrahedron Super Yacht will still feature the amenities any millionaire needs, including luxurious sun decks and spacious eating areas. The costs to build or purchase the vessel haven’t been revealed.
