Buffalo Bills fans on a flight to London for a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars had a heart-stopping experience when a door on the plane came unsealed, forcing an emergency landing Thursday.
As explained in a report from Giselle Lam of WGRZ.com, an Air Transat flight departed from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Heathrow Airport in London was forced to make an emergency landing in Montreal.
The plane, full of NFL fans, was beginning its overnight international flight when a door in the back of the airplane came unsealed, causing discomfort and even pain to several aboard.
Passenger Rachel Weissfeld told WGRZ.com, "The change in altitude. It was so fast that there were people who were in a lot of pain, like their ears were hurting, people were crying due to the pain, it was really awful."
The report also claims that once the plane landed at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, the fliers were asked to remain in the aircraft until the door was secured and clearance was received from a maintenance team.
To make up for the inconvenience, Air Transat offered their apologies plus complimentary food and drinks. Despite a harrowing start to the flight, all passengers and crewmembers arrived in London safely.
