Fog at London’s Heathrow Airport Causing Major Delays

On Friday, London’s Heathrow Airport was dealing with hundreds of delays as a blanket of fog engulfed the facility.
According to UTV Ireland, the fog that overwhelmed London’s Heathrow Airport resulted in incoming planes being diverted and forced the delays of 221 flights in total as of 12 p.m. ET, according to FlightAware.com.
Weather.com is reporting that while there will be periodic breaks in the fog during Friday in London, but the fog will return late and continue to cause havoc at the airport. On the other hand, the weekend looks to be clear of any fog, helping the facility catch up after the delays to end the work week.
In addition, UTV Ireland is also reporting that an American Airlines Boeing 747 aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at the facility Friday after reporting an engine fire.
Passengers onboard the American Airlines flight reported hearing several bangs, but the plane made a safe landing at around 9:20 a.m. local time. Emergency crews met the plane and extinguished the engine fire.
