A man is in critical condition following a frightening incident at a motel pool over Memorial Day Weekend.

The Associated Press reported that 34-year-old Greg Subiszak was discovered unconscious Saturday night in a pool at the Aztec Motel in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey.

Subiszak was pulled out of the water by a maintenance worker and a teenage guest, who performed CPR.

It's suspected that Subiszak was the victim of an electic shock upon entering the pool. The guest who assisted with the rescue said the man's "body tensed up and began shaking after jumping in."

The maintenance worker shut off the electricity before pulling Subiszak from the pool.

No other injuries were reported but the motel's owner, Adamo Pipitone, confirmed the pool will remain closed until cleared to reopen by county health officials.

Police are currently investigating the incident, which Pipitone suspects was the result of a short in a lamp post.

Subiszak is being hospitalized in Philadelphia.

The three-star Aztec Motel is located just minutes from the south Jersey Shore beach and earns 4.5 stars from TripAdvisor users.
