Several guests staying at Mexico City's Hotel El Senador unknowingly slept above a dead body over the course of several days, the U.K.'s Mirror reported.

Hotel staff were the first to discover the female corpse wrapped in black plastic after noticing a strong smell coming from under the bed inside room No. 323. A pair of cleaning ladies made the discovery, according to the Mirror, and informed hotel management, who then contacted the police.

According to a coroner's report, the woman was aged between 25 and 30 and died from suffocation.

"During the time that we believe the woman was under the bed, several people checked into the room and slept with the body underneath the bed," a hotel spokesman confirmed to the Mirror.

Staff at the three-star hotel in Mexico City's Doctores neighbohood also confirmed that the deceased woman had checked into the hotel with a man. However there's no footage of either of them. The Mirror reports that the identity of both remain unknown.

According to TripAdvisor, the oldschool Hotel El Senador ranks toward the bottom of Mexico City's inns, receiving just 2.5 out of a possible five stars.
