As Hurricane Harvey turns into a tropical storm and continues to lose power, the wake of destruction left behind becomes clear.
As the rain continued to fall Monday in Texas, more and more travelers were being impacted by Harvey.
Travelers looking to fly throughout the weekend experienced delays and cancellations, as Houston's William P. Hobby Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport were both closed Sunday. In addition, Southwest Airlines helped transport around 500 people from Hobby Airport to Dallas Love Field after flood waters trapped the impacted passengers inside the facility.
In total, more than 5,000 flights have been grounded nationwide since Friday, with a large portion of that number due to Harvey's impact on the United States. On Monday, more than 1,400 cancellations were listed and another 450 cancellations were already carrying over into Tuesday, according to FlightAware.com.
For travelers impacted by the storm, airlines serving the Texas and Louisiana region are waiving change fees and working with customers to help accommodate delays and cancellations.
As a result of Hurricane Harvey's impact, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders revealed that U.S. president Donald Trump will travel to Texas Tuesday, according to CBSNews.com.

In addition to canceled flights and closed roads due to massive flooding, four cruise ships and around 20,000 passengers were stranded in the Gulf of Mexico until the storm passes and the Port of Galveston reopens.
The impacted ships include three Carnival Cruise Line vessels (Freedom, Valor and Breeze) and a Royal Caribbean International vessel, (Liberty of the Seas). On Sunday, officials announced the Liberty of the Seas has been sent to the Port of Miami.
Travelers and locals in the impacted regions of Texas and Louisiana are warned to be careful as the rain continues to fall and the flood waters keep rising.
