LAPD: Driver In LAX Terminal Crash Likely Confused
A 67-year old man – not intoxicated nor in the throes of any medical condition – likely simply mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal in his Porsche Sunday when he slammed through a terminal at Los Angeles International Airport.
The crash, however, injured three people, including a seven-year old girl.
"It's safe to say she's fighting for her life," fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey told USA Today.
The driver and his male companion, whom he was dropping off at the airport, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver told police the Porsche was new and he wasn’t quite familiar with it yet.
“All indications (are) saying that he probably mistook the gas pedal for the brake,” Sgt. Roy Ceja of the Los Angeles Police Department told KTLA News in Los Angeles.
The car jumped the curb and hit the girl first.

Flights were not disrupted. Damage to the building was minimal. But that is all secondary to the condition of the little girl.
