More than a dozen people have been injured from a massive fire that broke out at downtown Dubai's five-star Address Hotel Thursday evening.
CNN reported the fire started on the 20th floor of the 63-story building at around 9:30 p.m. local time.
The Dubai government's media office told CNN that at least 14 people sustained minor injuries from the fire, while others were recovering from smoke inhalation and crowding. The government's media office also said that officials had more than 90 percent of the fire contained.
While the hotel and surrounding area was evacuated, Thursday's New Year's celebration went on as planned with a massive firework display going off shortly after midnight.
A brief video captured by Elysia Segal shows the scale of the fire.
The Address Hotel features nearly 200 rooms and is located near the Burj Khalifa, which is currently the world's tallest skyscraper.
It's unknown at this time what caused the fire, and the severity of the damage remains to be seen.
