If Ryan Lochte is the Ugly American after his notorious episode of lying about a robbery at gunpoint at the Rio Olympics, meet the Ugly Canadian.

Police say a tourist from Quebec has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, as he sat drinking beer on a Rehoboth Beach, Del. beach while his teenage daughter lured and killed a seagull nearby.

Christian Lesieur, 48, was arrested earlier this week after allegedly allowing his 13-year-old daughter to kill a seagull with a shovel.

Witnesses on the famed Delaware beach town, where Vice President Joe Biden keeps a summer retreat, called police and said they saw a young girl placing food in a hole dug in the sand to lure the seagulls. As they approached, she took a whack at them with a plastic shovel.

Unfortunately, she connected once, according to Delaware Online.

A dead gull was found in a nearby trash can, thrown there by the girl's father, Rehoboth Beach police spokesman Lt. Jaime B Riddle told the paper.

"Witnesses told police that while the teenager swung at the seagulls, Lesieur laughed," Riddle said. "One witness told police that he approached Lesieur and told him that his daughter should not be attempting to hit the seagulls and he laughed at him."

When police contacted Lesieur on the beach he was drinking alcohol, Riddle said, and while in custody, made multiple jokes in regards to the incident.

Both Lesieur and his daughter were taken to the police station. The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control was contacted to investigate the incident but elected not to press charges and instead educated the daughter about the severity of her actions. Seagulls are a protected species in Delaware.

Her father, however, was arrested for one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child and released on $500 unsecured bail to a sober co-signer.
