Russian Passenger Who Wanted Divorce Causes Seven-Hour Delay

On Monday, a woman who decided she needed to divorce her husband immediately forced a flight in Russia to be delayed by seven hours.

According to, an estimated 500 passengers were forced off a Rossiya Airlines flight at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow when a female passenger demanded to be let off the plane due to her desire to divorce her husband.

The other passengers on the flight were furious, as every passenger and all of their belongings were removed from the plane, re-screened by security and then allowed to board the aircraft again, seven hours after they were supposed to depart.

One of the passengers, named Elena, shared on social media that the woman was in her 40s and she demanded to leave the plane so she could file for divorce. Crew members tried to persuade the female passenger to stay on the flight—as they knew the long procedure they’d have to endure—but the woman refused.

The passengers were removed from the Rossiya Airlines plane and boarded waiting buses, and many passengers demanded that the airline heavily fine the woman for causing the extensive delay.

Witnesses reported the woman kept repeating, “I am not in the mood to fly now,” resulting in all of the other passengers also being forced to leave the plane. No further information was made available about the incident.
