At least seven flight attendants requested to be hospitalized following an American Airlines flight from Charlotte, North Carolina to Orlando, Florida early Tuesday, ClickOrlando.com reported.
The crew members complained of severe headaches. However, it's unclear what caused the illness, with American confirming there were no toxic fumes, smoke or strange odors aboard the aircraft. The carrier also said the plane would remain in service and is scheduled to fly from Orlando International Airport later Tuesday.
Interestingly, no passengers were affected, according to the airline.
The bizarre situation comes on the heels of a report by the Sunday Times of London detailing a similarly disturbing incident aboard a British Airways flight from San Francisco to London this past October in which multiple flight attendants claimed they were victims of toxic fumes.
In that instance, pilots made an emergency landing in Vancouver less than an hour into the flight.
