On Monday, officials at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando were forced to evacuate around 1,000 guests after a small fire broke out.

According to, the fire started during a performance of the live show “Festival of the Lion King” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom when guests noticed that smoke was coming from underneath one of the floats used in the show.

The float—which was shaped like an elephant—began to billow smoke, forcing the cast, crew and audience to evacuate the building. Thankfully, the fire was extinguished before emergency crews arrived, and no one was injured during the ordeal.

Animal Kingdom officials canceled the remaining Monday shows, and announced the performances should be able to begin once again Tuesday. Guests were compensated with free tickets to another performance.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
