On Monday night, a man was arrested for allegedly shooting two people inside a parking garage at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
According to the KTNV.com, a man and a woman were shot on the sixth level of a parking garage at the Las Vegas airport at around 6 p.m. local time. Police officials are calling the incident domestic violence related, as the suspect was in a previous relationship with the woman.
The victims were transported to a local hospital where they were both stabilized. They had just landed in Las Vegas before going to pick up their vehicle from long-term parking when the shootings took place.
The suspect escaped the area in a car, but was captured without incident later the same night.
Las Vegas Metro Police Department Airport Bureau Commander Capt. Vincent Cannito said that the shooting posed no significant threat to this airport, as it was an isolated domestic incident. In addition, the shooting didn’t impact any flights and all terminals remained open.
Following the shooting, though, the Airport Connector was shut down for around 20 minutes as officers arrived on the scene. The shut down caused a major traffic jam that delayed many drivers before the connector was opened again.
