WATCH: Passengers Boo Flight Crew For Kicking Woman Off Plane

Passengers aboard an American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Portland, Oregon came to the defense of a fellow passenger at the expense of the flight crew, collectively expressing their disappointment in a flight attendant's decision to have a passenger removed from the plane.

The incident was caught on camera in a one-minute video posted to YouTube by Flight 408 passenger Bill Byrne.

"I've seen people who deserve that but never actually seen somebody thrown off a plane," Byrne told Portland's KATU News.

The incident, which occurred Sunday, allegedly stemmed from a miscommunication between the female passenger and a flight attendant.

"This poor girl didn't hear Tim (in aisle) the flight attendant ask her to move to let someone else by. Tim then yelled for her to move and it upset her, yet she still apologized to Tim," Byrne wrote in the video description. "After sitting, the girl mentioned to a different attendant Tim was rude to her. Next thing we know, the girl is thrown off the plane."

In the video an unidentified woman warns the passenger that she will have to "call the officers" if she doesn't follow orders to leave the plane, to which the passenger responds "are you serious?"

"This can't be legal, I didn't do anything," the passenger can be heard saying.

Byrne described the entire situation as "nuts," but said the woman handled it well. "...You could tell it was super embarrassing for her," he told KATU.

The decision prompted several negative reactions from surrounding passengers.

"This is horrible," one passenger says, while another can be heard saying "you just lost a lot of customers."

Multiple passengers then began to boo as the woman was escorted off the aircraft.

In a statement via the New York Daily News, American Airlines said the passenger was rebooked on the next available flight and confirmed that it's "looking into this incident to better understand what happened."
