Last week, a passenger at Mineta San Jose International Airport taped several employees throwing around a piece of luggage.
According to Len Ramirez of CBS San Francisco, a customer named Chase Platon was at the San Jose airport when he saw several employees tossing a bag around while the others cheered them on. Platon was preparing to board his Southwest Airlines flight when he saw the incident take place near his terminal, causing him to grow concerned.
Seeing the actions of the employees, Platon reported the incident to Southwest, but was informed that it was actually Alaska Airlines employees tossing the bag around. A spokesperson for Alaska Airlines confirmed to KPIX 5 San Jose that it was their employees involved in the incident, and that the luggage was a “dummy bag” filled with old magazines.
The Alaska Airlines spokesperson acknowledged that the employees shouldn’t have been tossing the bag around, and released a comment, saying, “This game should not have been played at the airport. The optics of this video are unfortunate and we apologize for any confusion this has caused San Jose travelers or Southwest Airlines.”
