World's Tallest, Fastest Giga Coaster Fury 325 Gets Stuck for Third Time
Carowinds amusement park's latest thrill, Fury 325 has captured not only thrillseekers' imaginations, but negative headlines over the past week.
According to WSOCTV.com, the coaster has gotten stuck mid-ride three times over the past week, including this past weekend, when witnesses captured photos of the ride getting stuck near the top of an incline.
A spokesperson for the amusement park, which is located on the North Carolina-South Carolina border outside of Charlotte, told WSOC Channel 9 that the stoppage was triggered by a safety mechanism upon detecting a problem. However, park officials were unable to determine whether any guests were on the ride at the time.
"The safety of our guests and associates at Carowinds Amusement Park is paramount" said park officials in a statement. "Our rides have a sophisticated, computerized system that can cause ride stoppages as a precautionary measure."
Despite Carowinds' emphasis on safety and heartening precautions in place, the frequency of which problems are being detected is a legitimate concern, as park goers have pointed out.
"I was debating whether I was going to get on it or not because it's a scary thing when it gets stuck when you're in the line and then it gets stuck directly after you get off," park guest Aimee Eudy told WSOC Channel 9. "It's a scary thing,"

The Fury 325 is named after its remarkable height of 325 feet. Opened last month, the giga coaster is the tallest and fastest in the world.
