Berho Named New CEO of Mexico Tourism Board
Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto has appointed Lourdes Berho as the new CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board (CPTM), replacing Rodolfo Lopez Negrete who served in the position since 2011. Berho is widely regarded as an expert in marketing with extensive credential with brand such as Condé Nast, Vogue, Glamour, GQ, Architectural Digest, BANAMEX and CITI Mexico.
The appointment was formalized yesterday, after President Enrique Peña Nieto accepted the proposal of Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR), Enrique de la Madrid.
Berho, 54, has a degree in business administration and advertising from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. She is also a graduate in tourism business administration from the Anahuac University in Mexico City. Berho had served from 1998-90 as director of advertising and public relations for US and Canadian markets at Mexico's Ministry of Tourism. Between 1990 and 2004, Lourdes Berho was CEO of Publicitas Globe Media and co-founder of custom marketing group in Mexico and Latin America, focused on integrated marketing programs aimed at the tourism sector.
Subsequently, from 2004 to 2008 she served as Mexico/Latin America head of Condé Nast, and regional editor for magazines ranging from Vogue, Glamour, and GQ to Architectural Digest. From 2009 to 2011 Ms. Berho was director of premium marketing with Banamex/CITI for Latin America, while in 2011 she founded her own marketing communications agency, Alchemia.
Savini Appointed Director Of Travel Industry Sales At Viceroy Anguilla
Steven Savini has been appointed Director of Travel Industry Sales at Viceroy Anguilla. Savini joins Viceroy Anguilla with more than 25 years in the luxury travel industry. Most recently he was director travel industry sales for the Americas at Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park (MOHG) where he opened and launched the US-based home office for North and South America. Savini began his career in hospitality at Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach where he was a senior sales manager and cultivated beneficial relationships in the travel industry markets. He was a four-time winner of the Four Seasons’ Presidents Club Award and a two-time receiver of the Global Sales Person of the Year.
Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Names New Bureau Chief
As Stacy Ritter takes the helm as the new president and CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, the long-time Broward County resident and former county commissioner is setting an agenda filled with big goals and plans, including a long-term vision to elevate the destination into one of the premier travel attractions in the country.
Based on her time as a Broward County Commissioner and the Broward County Tourism Development Council, Ritter is well placed to lead the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau into a new era with her diverse experiences, relationships and deep interest and involvement in the destination’s hospitality industry.
Before she was elected to the Broward County Commission in November of 2006 – and as Mayor in 2008 – Ritter served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1996 to 2004, representing the 96th District, until the end of mandated term limits.
As Mayor, she was instrumental in pushing for improvements at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, including the expansion of the south runway, which in turn is attracting new airline service and stimulating record-breaking passenger traffic.
INNSIDE New York Appoints Alex Spektor as General Manager
Meliá Hotels International has named Alex Spektor, a well-seasoned and results-driven professional with over 20 years of experience in the hotel industry, as the new general manager of its first New York property, INNSIDE New York.
Beginning his career as the assistant front office manager at Eastgate Tower Hotel in New York City positioned Spektor to excel in a similar position as he moved on to The Benjamin Hotel assisting in its pre- and post-opening phases. In 1999, Spektor began a journey that lasted six years at Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel & Conference Center in East Rutherford, NJ. He held the positions of front office manager and rooms division manager where he was able to hone his managerial skills, even receiving internal accolades for his hard work, dedication and the prestigious upkeep of company standards to the internal team, hotel guests, and VIPs.
