Denys Montes de Oca has been named senior sales director of Grand Velas Riviera Maya. Meanwhile, Gina Jimenez has been promoted to sales director of Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. Both positions will develop and follow up the sales strategy for the two properties, including our Casa Velas Boutique Hotel.
La Quinta Inns & Suites Names J. Sal Icaza New Director Of Franchise Development
La Quinta Inns & Suites announces the appointment of hospitality industry veteran, J. Sal Icaza, as director of development for the Northeast. Icaza brings more than 20 years of industry experience to this role and joins La Quinta after holding senior franchise sales positions at Choice Hotels International, Hilton Hotel Corporation and consumer brands outside the hotel industry. He was also the chief development and operating officer at Cherry Cove Hospitality Management, a successful ownership and management company he helped build from the ground up.
Rosewood Cordevalle Names Victor Manuel Palma As Executive Chef
Victor Palma has been appointed executive chef of Rosewood CordeValle, one of the world’s leading golf resorts, located in San Martin, California. In his new role, Palma will lead the talented culinary team at the resort’s three distinctive dining venues: Il Vigneto, Lion’s Peak Grill and One Iron Bar.
Chef Palma joins Rosewood CordeValle from Rosewood San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, where he was the executive chef. During his tenure at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, Chef Palma oversaw the acclaimed hotel’s culinary operation including its signature culinary programming and its award-winning restaurants, 1826 Restaurant and Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar. Prior to Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, Chef Palma was the executive sous chef at the legendary Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico where he spearheaded the creation of a new “Locally sourced, Nationally Inspired” Mexican menu at El Restaurante.
Six Senses Con Dao Welcomes General Manager Nicholas Juett
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has appointed Nicholas John Juett as general manager of Six Senses Con Dao in Vietnam. The resort comprises 50 contemporary pool villas, a Six Senses Spa and several dining alternatives. It is the first high-end resort in the Vietnamese archipelago islands, which have been protected for decades as a national and marine park.
A graduate from Camborne Catering College, Cornwall, UK and with over 20 years of experience within the international hotel and tourism industry, Juett started his hospitality journey as the front of house manager at the Haven Hotel in the UK where he later on became the general manager. This was followed by various properties and positions including that of general manager for Colony Club Hotel, St James, Barbados; group operations director for FBJ Hotels, UK; technical services manager for Aman Resorts, Singapore; joint general manager for Amanpulo Resort, Philippines and more recently general manager for Amanruya, Turkey.

Prior to joining the team at The St. Regis Atlanta, Rosa worked in her native Spain with Starwood Hotels for more than 15 years. She began her career with the brand in operations at the five-star Westin Palace Madrid for five years. In 2005, she became the global account manager in the Starwood Sales office for the Iberia Region (Spain and Portugal). After six years in the role, she was promoted to the director of sales and marketing at the Hotel Marques de Riscal, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Rosa was recently awarded the 2015 Presidents Award EAME by Starwood, a recognition for her leadership, integrity and crucial contribution in closing a record-breaking year in occupancy and revenue per available room at the Hotel Marques de Riscal. She has a master’s degree in English Philology from the University of Alicante and a diploma in Marketing and Strategic Planning for Hotels from the University Francisco de Vitoria.

Robinson Named Group Sales Manager At The Walt Disney World Swan And Dolphin Resort
Melissa Robinson has been appointed group sales manager at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, handling groups in the Midwest and West Coast markets ranging from 151 – 400 rooms.
Robinson comes to the hotel from Florida’s Hollywood Beach Marriott, where she served as sales and catering manager. Previously, she held sales roles at Florida hotels including the Fountainbleau in Miami Beach and Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in Ft. Lauderdale. She holds a master’s degree in hospitality management from Florida International University.

Dr. Jillean Justice Introduced as President of The Greenbrier
Jim Justice, the Owner and CEO at The Greenbrier, formally announced during an address at the West Virginia Business Summit on Thursday that Dr. Jillean Justice has been named the new president of the historic resort in the mountains of West Virginia.
Dr. Justice, who officially began her new duties earlier this summer, is a West Virginia native who grew up visiting The Greenbrier at a young age. Since the time her father purchased the resort in 2009, Dr. Justice has gained an intimate understanding of The Greenbrier and its nearly 2,000 team members. She brings that knowledge, an intense love for The Greenbrier and experience as a business owner to her new position.
New Event Sales Manager Is Tapped At Andaz Wall Street
Andaz Wall Street is delighted to announce the appointment of Alina Lopez as the hotel’s event sales manager. Lopez comes to the Hyatt family with six years of event planning experience, and most recently was in the role of Sales Coordinator at Westin Times Square. In her new position at Andaz Wall Street, Lopez will oversee the corporate and government markets as well as fundraisers.
Lopez began her career welcoming guests at the front desk of the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida and has experienced progressive growth since then. After the Biltmore, she moved on to serve as the Catering Sales Coordinator at JW Marriott Marquis Miami. At the end of 2014, Lopez made the move to New York City where she held the title of Sales Coordinator at Westin Times Square. During her time in the latter positions, Lopez had the opportunity to work very closely with the executive teams and received detailed management training in sales and coordination. Additionally, she led the charge on many large-scale projects and events. Now Lopez, a valued employee of the month at Westin Times Square, will take her experience and focus it downtown at the Lower Manhattan premier property.
