The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Expands Hospitality Team with Two New Appointments
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is pleased to welcome two new key players to its hospitality team: Coleman Wallace, general manager of Williamsburg Lodge and Shaun Coleman, sales and marketing director for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The two executive members join the team after decades of experience in the hospitality industry.
Coleman Wallace, now general manager at the Williamsburg Lodge, joins the team with more than 21 years of experience in leadership roles with Marriott International. Thriving in a fast-paced, competitive environment, Wallace most recently served as the Director of Operations at the JW Marriott New Orleans and was responsible for the Food and Beverage and Room Operations of the 501-room property. As the Williamsburg Lodge transitions to the Marriott Autograph collection, Wallace will play an integral role in the process with his demonstrated executive leadership and organizational skills at executing strategies for financial growth, proven motivational and leadership success, and a track record of increasing associate engagement and customer loyalty.
Mandarin Oriental, Miami Announces Robert Lowe As General Manager
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Robert Lowe as general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Miami.
Robert Lowe joins Mandarin Oriental, Miami from the Group’s property in Atlanta where he has been general manager since 2012. Robert was instrumental in the rebranding of the Atlanta hotel, successfully positioning it as one of the city’s most recognized properties. Robert joined Mandarin Oriental in 1999 as director of sales and marketing at the former Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco, and was later promoted to resident manager in 2005. He transferred in the same capacity to Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC in 2007 before moving to Mandarin Oriental, New York as hotel manager in 2010.
Nevis Tourism Authority Appoints New Chairman
The Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) just announced it has appointed Tim Thuell as the new chairman of the NTA Board to serve for the next term.
Thuell is general manager for Nisbet Plantation, where he had served as GM for many years. He just returned to this position after a hiatus to pursue other opportunities elsewhere in the hospitality sector.
Other members of the Nevis Tourism Board have been reappointed. They include: Ed Gannon, Four Seasons General Manager; Evelyn Henville, Member, Nevis Historic & Conservation Society; Ernie France, TDC Nevis Ltd.; Colin Dore, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Nevis Island Government; Gary Colt – Coconut Grove Restaurant; and Richard Lupinacci, The Hermitage Plantation Inn.
Canary Santa Barbara Hires Two Seasoned Professionals to Expand Management Team
Kimpton’s Canary Santa Barbara announced today the addition of two new members to its management team, Kecia Kelly as director of catering, and Codie Blue as sales manager.
As director of catering, Kelly will focus on leading the catering team, event planning and new business development. Kelly has nearly a decade of hospitality industry experience in sales and catering. Prior to joining the Canary in July 2016, Kelly served as the associate director of catering for The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Her previous roles include serving as senior catering sales manager at Double Tree by Hilton Golf Resort San Diego and a catering and conference services sales manager at L’Auberge Del Mar in San Diego, Calif.
As sales manager, Blue will be responsible for fostering customer relationships and optimizing group and corporate business performance. Blue comes to the Canary from Sheraton Nashville Downtown, where she served as specialty sales manager. Prior to moving to Nashville, Blue served as sales manager for UCLA and Market Sales Manager for Care Providers LTD, both in Los Angeles, Calif.
Blue earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in anthropology from UCLA, where she also worked for the Daily Bruin newspaper in advertising sales. A Venice Beach native, Blue recently moved back to California, and spends her free time at the beach, riding her beach cruiser, painting, doing yoga and DIY projects.
Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Breckenridge Appoints Donald Woodin As General Manager
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Breckenridge is pleased to announce the appointment of Donald Woodin to the position of general manager.
A veteran of the hospitality industry with nearly 30 years of premier hotel management experience, Woodin is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the property. Woodin earned a Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality from Florida International University. In his spare time, Woodin enjoys skiing, biking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends with good food and wine.
Chatham Bars Inn Welcomes Ryan Adams As Resort Manager
Chatham Bars Inn, the luxury Cape Cod property, just named Ryan Adams resort manager, a position where he will be responsible for overall operations and guest services.
Since leaving his hometown of Coronado, Cali., where he first entered the hospitality industry, Adams has held high-level positions at nearly a dozen esteemed hotels, including the Breakers, various Starwood properties and at five Ritz-Carlton hotels.
Adams’s most recent role was at the upscale SLS Beverly Hills where he was the director of operations. Prior to that, he served as director of rooms at the 5 star- and 5 diamond-rated St. Regis Monarch Beach, where he was responsible for driving cultural initiatives, corporate programming and service standards among staff.
Silversea Appoints Janet Bava As Vp Marketing For The Americas
Silversea Cruises today announces the appointment of Janet Bava as vp of marketing for the Americas. Based out of Silversea’s Miami office, Bava will oversee all trade and consumer-oriented marketing activities, including advertising, direct marketing and e-marketing programs across the North and South American continents.
Bringing marketing experience and skills from the healthcare industry, earned at companies such as NationsHealth, Initia and Kramer Laboratories, and she holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and International Business from Florida International University.
