Belmond Charleston Place Announces New Travel Agent Sales Manager
Belmond Charleston Place hotel recently promoted Brenna Emerson to the position of travel industry sales manager. In her new role, Emerson is responsible for the national travel agent marketing and sales program. Emerson first joined Belmond Charleston Place in 2012 and has immersed herself in the operations of the hotel, holding positions as front office supervisor and reservation manager prior to assuming her new position as the travel agent sales manager.
Melinda Park Appointed As General Manager of The Brooklyn A Hotel
Real Hospitality Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Melinda Park as General Manager of the new The Brooklyn a Hotel, set to open in August of 2015. A veteran of the hospitality industry, Park will be responsible for collaborating with the general contractor and project manager on all aspects of the hotel’s pre-opening stages of development as well as day-to-day operations post-opening. Park joins the hotel with 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry including conference centers, hotels and consulting. Prior to joining The Brooklyn a Hotel, Park most recently served as the project manager for ARAMARK Conference Centers, where she spent the majority of her hospitality career.
Four Seasons Hotel Austin Names Miller Director of Business Travel
Four Seasons Hotel Austin is excited to announce the appointment of Blake Miller as its new director of business travel. In this key role, Milleris responsible for negotiating, contracting and effectively managing relationships with local and national corporate accounts.
A long-time Austin resident, Miller most recently spent 13 years as the director of corporate travel for the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel. Prior to the InterContinental, he was with the Omni Downtown as their director of business travel. Miller is very involved in the Austin Business Travel Association, among several other charities and industry organizations.
Andaz 5th Avenue Names April Renee Storms As Director of Sales
Andaz 5th Avenue, the boutique lifestyle hotel in Midtown Manhattan, is proud to announce the promotion of award-winning hospitality professional April Renee Storms to director of sales.
Storms brings a decade of hospitality, sales, and management experience to her new position, much within the Andaz brand as well as Hyatt Hotels Corporation. Most recently, she held positions as director of transient sales and director of agency sales at three New York properties —Andaz Wall Street, Andaz 5th Avenue, and the Grand Hyatt New York, overseeing all aspects of the luxury travel programs for all three properties. During her time overseeing these properties, she led significant growth in sales. Additionally, Hyatt named Storms a HyPerformer, an award given to individuals who excel at production goals and serve as a role model and mentor to their peers.
HTA Board of Directors Appoints Board Chair
The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) board of directors announced today that L. Richard "Rick" Fried, Jr. has been appointed as its new chairperson. Craig Nakamura and Lorrie Stone will continue as co-vice chairs.
Fried has served on the HTA board of directors since 2012 and this will be his first term as board chair. A founding member of well-established law firm Cronin, Fried, Sekiya, Kekina & Fairbanks, Fried has been practicing law for more than forty years. Fried was also the past president of the Hawaii Association for Justice (formerly the Consumer Lawyers of Hawaii) and has been named in "Best Lawyers in America" for more than 25 years. He has also served with local organizations, including the Honolulu Symphony, Hawaii Theatre, Shriners Hospitals for Children and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Before joining the team at Stanford Court, Barahona served as area director of sales at Oakland Marriott City Center/Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Oakland/Oakland Convention Center. Prior, he was associate sales director at Parc 55 Wyndham in San Francisco for nearly four years, where he was responsible for reaching a three million dollar booking goal through cultivating relationships with premier West Coast companies including Intel, Kaiser Permanente, Sony, Twitter and Google.
Aimie Johnson Appointed New Business Development Manager for North America Western Region
Kuoni Group Travel Experts has appointed Aimie Johnson as business development manager for North America’s West Coast as its group travel business out of the region rises once again. Based in Denver, Colorado, Aimie will be responsible for developing group travel business for the Kuoni Group Travel Experts and Travel Bound brands.
Johnson brings nearly a decade's sales and marketing experience gained with the Globus family of brands. Before this she gained a thorough understanding of U.S. consumer trends with Starz Encore Group, one of the largest media and entertainment companies in the country.
