Travel Leaders Group Announces Chief Financial Officer Role Transition from Willie Lynch to Richard Schmaeling
Travel Leaders Group is announcing today that Richard Schmaeling will serve as its new chief financial officer (CFO), with longtime CFO Willie Lynch stepping into the role of senior financial advisor to Schmaeling and his team, thus ensuring a seamless leadership transition. Reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer Ninan Chacko, Schmaeling is a veteran strategic and operational financial executive who will lead a team of finance and accounting professionals across the group. Lynch is credited with helping guide Travel Leaders Group’s financial transformation into the nearly $21 billion enterprise it is today.
Schmaeling comes to Travel Leaders Group directly from his role as CFO for MediaMath, a marketing technology and services company. Before MediaMath, he served for six years as the CFO for LIN Media until it was sold to Media General, when he then became a financial consultant for the latter. Prior to that, Schmaeling served for four years as vice president of finance for Dow Jones, ten years as vice president of finance for Bracco Diagnostics, and eight years with Arthur Andersen.
Katja Henke Named New General Manager At The Peninsula Paris
Katja Henke has begun her new post as general manager at The Peninsula Paris. Prior to joining The Peninsula Paris, Ms Henke was general manager at The Peninsula Bangkok for three and a half years.
Henke, a native of Hamburg, Germany, started her hospitality career in Switzerland, where at age 18 she embarked on a two-year apprenticeship at the Bernerhof in Gstaad and attended the Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern. Katja’s international career has also taken her to France, England and the United States, where she worked as general manager of Blantyre, a Relais & Châteaux property in Lenox, Massachusetts. She also worked for the Four Seasons in Washington, D.C. and the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, California.
MGM National Harbor Appoints Max Fisher As Chief Financial Officer
MGM National Harbor, the world-class casino resort set to open later this year in Prince George’s County, Md., is pleased to announce the appointment of Max Fisher as vice president and chief financial officer. In this role, Fisher is responsible for providing broad oversight and strategic direction for all aspects of the property’s financial activities, including casino finance, procurement, project management, information technology, and financial planning. As a strategic business partner to the property’s general manager, he will contribute in all aspects of the business leadership of the property.
Fisher is an experienced industry professional, having held numerous senior-level positions throughout his distinguished 17-year career. He most recently served as corporate vice president of finance and vice president of financial operations and shared services at Caesars Entertainment Corporation in Las Vegas.
Adam Zilber Appointed As General Manager Of Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, Costa Rica
Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica is pleased to introduce Adam Zilber as the new general manager of the hotel. After 17 years of experience with Hyatt, Zilber’s career and resort experience have led him to head this unique property.
Zilber’s successful career and love of hospitality first began in 1999, where he started as a rooms corporate leadership trainee at the Hyatt Regency Dorado Beach Resort in Puerto Rico. The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel has appointed Elie Kik as director of sales and marketing for the legendary property. With more than 20 years of luxury hospitality experience, Kik brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new position.
Kik joins The Carlyle from The St. Regis New York, where he held the position of director of sales. During his time in this role, he re-established and oversaw the department, implemented a successful solicitation strategy and created a strategic sales and marketing plan to grow market share. He also assumed the role of interim director of sales and marketing for several months during a transitional period at the hotel.
New York Hilton Midtown Appoints Craig Burdick as Director of Food & Beverage
New York Hilton Midtown has appointed Craig Burdick to the position of director of food and beverage.

As a New York Hilton Midtown veteran, Burdick was previously the executive director of banquet operations since 2006 where he generated over $50 million annually. Prior to that, Burdick served as the director of banquets at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. His career in food and beverage operations began at the Sheraton Wilmington in Delaware as the director of banquets and later as director of food and beverage operations.
Hilton San Francisco Union Square Appoints Jason Tresh as Hotel Manager
Hilton San Francisco Union Square has appointed Jason Tresh to the position of hotel manager. With more than 20 years of hospitality expertise, Tresh will take the helm of the iconic 1,919-room hotel focusing on elevating guest satisfaction, managing day-to-day operations and ensuring the property continues to be an industry leader for business travelers, groups and leisure guests as well as push the boundaries of green hospitality.
Most recently, Tresh served as the director of food & beverage at New York Hilton Midtown, a position he held since 2009, where he helped to successfully reinvent the hotel’s food and beverage program.
Prior to New York Hilton Midtown, Tresh held positions as executive assistant manager and director of food and beverage at Millennium Hilton; assistant general manager and director of catering at Madison Towers; and corporate sales manager at Benchmark Hospitality, among others.
Carnival Corporation & plc Names Helen Deeble to Board of Directors, Announces Quarterly Dividend
Carnival Corporation & plc today announced that Helen Deeble, CEO of P&O Ferries Division Holdings Ltd., has been appointed to the company’s board of directors, effective immediately.
Deeble, a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in retail, shipping, logistics and leisure travel, will serve in a non-executive capacity on Carnival Corporation’s 10-member board of directors. She will also serve on the board-level Health, Environmental, Safety and Security Committee.
Since 2006, Deeble has been CEO of P&O Ferries Division Holdings Ltd., a pan-European shipping and logistics business, following stints as the company’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer starting in 1998. Prior to that, Deeble was chief financial officer for Stena Line UK Ltd., a Swedish-owned ferry operator, and held several financial roles with the retailer Sears plc in the UK. Deeble has served as a non-executive director for the Port of London Authority and The Standard Club since 2014.
